We combine our understanding of every phase of a project with a commitment to superior performance and a unified corporate goal to help our customers succeed. Founder and President, David K. Miller David has more than 20 years experience in Engineering Geology and Blasting Seismology. He is a licensed geologist in Pennsylvania and Virginia and is also a registered ICC-Residential Building Inspector. His professional experience involves construction inspections and subsurface exploration for geotechnical engineering companies, vibration monitoring, pre-blast/construction inspection of structures, evaluating structure response and damage susceptibility of buildings to construction vibrations, vibration damage claim investigation, public relations, and expert legal testimony. Other related experience includes conducting geophysical surveys and engineering evaluation of soils and rock through borings and test pits.
David Harrison Principal/Vice President
Mr. Harrison has over 24 years of experience in Explosives Engineering and
Blasting Seismology. He has a BS degree in Mining Engineering from
University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Harrison currently holds a Pennsylvania and a
Federal Blasters License. His professional experience includes monitoring
and analysis of thousands of blast and construction vibration events, pre-
and post blasting structure surveys, public relations, training, testimony,
and damage claim evaluation. Mr. Harrison as served as a Board Member, the
Vice President and the President of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of ISEE. He is
a recipient of the ISEE’s President Award and the current Vice-Chairman of
the ISEE Public Education & Public Relations Committee. He is also a member
of the Pile Driving Contractors Associations (PDCA) Environmental Committee.
Senior Consultant, Robert D. Spaniol
Robert has more than 28 years of experience in the Explosives Engineering industry and has concentrated his efforts for the past 10 years in the field of Blasting Seismology. Robert has a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of the District of Columbia and has completed a substantial amount of coursework, including: a Safe and Cost-Efficient Blasting in Civil Engineering, Mining, and Quarrying course at Purdue University School of Engineering, and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Blasting Safety and Application Seminar. His professional expertise includes blasting in a variety of construction projects and quarries, blast design consulting for quarries, blasting consultation for construction projects, and vibration and noise monitoring and studies.
Project Geologist, Eric Maynard
Eric has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from West Virginia University. He has extensive experience in vibration monitoring, and pre-blast/construction surveys and classroom and field training in monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation including seismograph operation, tiltmeter and inclinometer measurements and data interpretation. His professional experience includes vibration monitoring of construction activity and blasting, analysis of seismograph data, pre-blast/construction inspection of structures, and public relations. Mr. Maynard has also been badged and trained for AOA access at IAD.
Mr. Bartholomae has over 7 years of blasting
and construction seismology experience. He attained a Bachelor of
Science degree in Earth Sciences from Penn State University in 1998.
During his career he has conducted seismic monitoring and analysis of
blasting and construction vibration events. This experience includes the
setup and operation of seismographs inside of the active Black Rock
Railroad Tunnel for nearby blasting operations, and the monitoring of
construction vibrations within feet of historic residential structures
for the SR 54 Cut and Cover Tunnel. He has completed over 1,000 pre- and
post construction structural surveys, provided public relations and
conducted damage claim evaluations. In 2005 he presented a paper on the
control of blast vibrations through timing analysis at the 31st Annual
Conference on Explosives & Blasting Technique.
Mr. Spencer has received formal training in
conducting pre-condition surveys and seismic monitoring through Seismic
Surveys, Inc. in-house training program. His professional experience
includes vibration monitoring of construction activity and blasting,
analysis of seismograph data, pre-blast/construction inspection of
structures, and public relations. Clients that Mr. Spencer has served
throughout the Mid-Atlantic region include Capital Drilling, Inc., The
Whiting and Turner Contracting Co., J.E. McKeever Inc., Fru-Con
Construction Corp., John W. Gleim, Jr., Inc., and Dickinson College. In
addition, Mr. Spencer has experience conducting pre-construction surveys
of beachfront properties and seismic monitoring of beachfront
activities.
