Instantel 2008 Innovation
Award Winners
With
lots of innovative projects happening all over the world,
Instantel is very pleased to recognize the creative and
exciting work that our dealers and end-users have been
involved in. It is an honor to be a part of the projects
that were nominated this year.
Congratulations to the 2008
Instantel Innovation Award Winners for their ambitious work
on challenging projects. This year’s winners helped to
protect marine life from nearby blasting, limited the
environmental impact of blasting in delicate coral reefs and
eliminated the need for staff at monitoring locations with
SeismoBots!

Surveys, Inc.
Project:
SeismoBot Development
for In-House Use – Multiple Locations, United States of
America
Bringing the vibration monitoring business into the 21st
century, Instantel Dealer, Seismic Surveys, Inc. (SSI) has
recently developed and built completely self-sufficient,
wireless seismograph stations. The remote data acquisition
systems, called "SeismoBots", use Instantel’s InstaLink® Web
based vibration monitoring solution in conjunction with
cellular modems to automatically disseminate seismic data.
To date they have successfully used the SeismoBots on 10
projects simultaneously with up to 12 seismographs on each
project without the need for staff at every site!
Joint
Venture - Dragages Hong Kong & Bouygues Construction
Project:
Ocean Park Redevelopment
Contract; C105 Summit Site Formation Excavation – Hong Kong,
China
Many dolphins, seals, sharks, stingrays, and reef fish in
Hong Kong were unaffected by nearby blasting thanks to the
innovative work of Dragages Bouyges JV. Ocean Park, a major
tourist attraction that is home to four aquaria, is being
redeveloped to include new attractions, a hotel and a ¾ mile
(1.2 km) funicular railway tunnel to link two sections of
the park. To complete the project, 26,486,000 ft³ (750,000
m³) of material needed to be excavated over a 14 month
period from the mountain adjacent to the park to form the
new platform required for construction.
Dynamic
Consult International
Project:
Yemen Liquefied Natural
Gas Project – Port of Balhaf, Republic of Yemen
Vibration monitoring for environmental impact was of the
utmost importance for the Yemen Liquefied Natural Gas (YLNG)
Project located in the port of Balhaf, Yemen. Located off
the desert coast, the construction of a large-scale
liquefied natural gas terminal is surrounded by coral reefs
containing the world’s richest marine bio diversity. Dynamic
Consult International (DCI) was contracted for this
complicated project to design blasting plans, monitor
seismic vibrations and underwater overpressure, and adjust
blasting to respect the prescribed limits of seismic
vibration and underwater overpressure. To ensure the desired
results were achieved, DCI selected Instantel® Minimate
Plus™ vibration monitors.
Trade Show Report: 2008 ISEE
Conference on Explosives and Blasting Technique

The 34th Annual Conference on
Explosives and Blasting Technique has come to a finale with
another successful year. As the largest gathering of
explosives technology in the world, the conference was well
attended attracting over 1,400 attendees and 105 exhibitors
from around the world!
|
With a long-standing
history of being Instantel’s "must-attend" annual
event, the ISEE Conference was the perfect venue to
showcase Instantel’s new products, the Minimate Pro4™
and Minimate Pro6™ vibration monitors.
Both units were demonstrated throughout the
conference and created a ‘splash’
with those who had a chance to see them. An
Instantel first, to emphasize the rugged design and
product enhancements, one of the Series 4 units was
running underwater in an aquarium for the duration
of the show!
The Friends of
Instantel Reception was as popular as ever with over
300 attendees in awe of the majestic collections of
natural beauty surrounding them at the Audubon
Aquarium of the Americas. Instantel dealers and
customers were provided the opportunity to network
and learn more about New Orleans’ fauna, marine and
wild life while enjoying local music and cuisine. |

for excellence. To help us serve you better, we request that
our dealers participate in our Annual Survey. The 2007
