B ringing the
vibration monitoring business into the 21st Century, Instantel Dealer,
Seismic Surveys, Inc. (SSI) has recently developed and built
completely self-sufficient, wireless seismograph stations. The remote
data acquisition systems, called "SeismoBots", use Instantel’s InstaLink™
Web based vibration monitoring solution in conjunction with cellular
modems to automatically disseminate seismic data. To date they have
successfully used the SeismoBots on 10 projects simultaneously with up
to 12 seismographs on each project without having staff on every site!

|
Since July 2006, 44 SeismoBots have been built and are being
successfully used in various construction and mining projects across the
Eastern United States, from New York State to Florida. The development
efforts of SSI on the SeismoBots represent an investment of over 18
months and $250,000 in remote seismic data acquisition technology and
equipment, including Instantel® Minimate Plus™ vibration monitors.

SSI mounted remote security enclosures,
solar panels, and alarm strobe lights on lightweight hand trucks. Each
enclosure is equipped with a solar controller to regulate voltage, a 12
Volt deep cycle marine battery, a cellular modem, appropriate cabling
and a Minimate Plus instrument. Using InstaLink with its unique Auto
Call Home™ feature has allowed the SeismoBots to be a complete hands-off
solution to monitor multiple sites without the need for staff at each
site. This innovative development has enabled them to operate more
efficiently and provide their clients with faster, more cost effective
service.
